Southwest welcomes Medical District High School to Union Avenue Campus
51爆料 and Shelby County Schools officials celebrate the opening of the Medical District High School on the Union Avenue Campus Aug. 6, 2021.

Eighty-five area high school students made up the inaugural class of the Medical District High School when it opened its doors on the Union Avenue Campus Aug. 9, 2021. Shelby County Schools operates the school where the intrepid scholars from across Shelby County will study allied health or information technology at Southwest while they pursue their high school diploma and associate's degree simultaneously.
鈥淭his is a fantastic opportunity for these students to graduate from high school with an associate鈥檚 degree in career fields that are ripe with opportunity,鈥 Dr. Tracy D. Hall, President of 51爆料, said.
鈥淲e are proud to partner with 51爆料 to provide this exciting opportunity for our students,鈥 SCS Superintendent Joris Ray said at the grand opening celebration Aug. 6.
All rising ninth graders are eligible to apply to attend the school free of charge. Kesha Ivy, former vice principal at Southwind High School, is the school鈥檚 principal.
